at the source
We know exactly where all our materials come from. We partner with suppliers who harvest wood from responsibly managed forests, ensuring the wellbeing of the woodland, wildlife and workers. All our veneers are FSC or PEFC accredited where possible and our Valchromat MDF core is made from woodchip waste and pallets. We’re always looking to reduce transportation, and source our materials from Europe, from forests as close to home as possible.

We are the only kitchen design studio to calculate the CO2-e impact of our original product range. This unique insight allowed us to spot opportunities for innovation – in refinement of materials, design or manufacturing processes – to help drive down our emissions. We worked with sustainability experts MÅLBAR to accurately calculate and verify all of our data, ranging from our materials, surface treatments, production, transportation; and even down to the final disposal. We worked to MÅLBAR’S level 2 accuracy which relied on a number of baseline statistical assumptions.

We don’t hide the facts. All of our products have a level of impact on our planet that’s hard to avoid. Instead, we use these insights to help drive positive change and present all the information back to you, as clearly as possible. More information = more informed decisions to help us live sustainably. We never stand still, and as we refine our range you may see the data change.

We’re working tirelessly to make all of our products circular. That means eliminating waste at every level and only using renewable or recycled materials. Quality and longevity are central to our design principles, ensuring your kitchen lasts and can be enjoyed for longer. At the end of its life, we want all of our fronts to be easily recyclable, and made into new and exciting products for the next generation.
A principal shared by IKEA
The IKEA solution also provides a great option for customers who are still after an environmentally friendly kitchen but on a tighter budget. Their METOD system comes with a twenty five year guarantee, ensuring longevity is matched with a great price. IKEA are also striving for improvements in their production, with the aim to be fully circular by 2030.
